Crab Update: Crupdate
I am back in my apartment with my crabs after two months of globe-trotting and one month of Ohio-sitting! Wonderful roommate and crab uncle (cruncle) Eric Allen did a great job taking care of the crabs.
Well their tank was smelling like the sink at a Red Lobster (aka not good) so I decided to change their substrate. Currently I’m making a big gross mushy coconut husk mush which is supposed to be great for humidity and crabs. It’s “absorbing” right now. Who knows.
This development means I had to move the crabs to their little temporary home while I did my coconut husk preparations. JD IS ALIVE! He’s freaking out about being moved and crawling all over the place. Happy day.
Emily is… questionable. She has not moved. At all. Sooo I’m going to put in her in her happy new mushy environment (NOT under the coconut) and give her 24 hours to move or be pronounced dead. If she is dead, she’s probably been dead for a while and JD has been sharing a coconut with a crab corpse. Morbid! But I’m also proud of JD for not eating her. That’s how low my standards are with these things. No cannibalism? Good work!
